Declare Witness

Scripture proclaims good news for the captive.

Witness is not a program or a personality type — it is the natural flow of genuine gratitude for what Christ has done, empowered by the Spirit who gives both words and boldness.

“We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us.  We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.”                                                                          2 Corinthians 5:20

Do You Declare Witness?

This is the truth in its simplest form — the same words printed inside every Declare Witness Truth Card:

Do not move past this too quickly.
If this is true, which it is, it changes everything about your life.

What Scripture Says About Witness

Witness is the Spirit-driven testimony of Christ’s authority.   Jesus told his disciples “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”  Acts 1:8    His mandate is clear.  Your personal experience and understanding of Christ’s redemptive work in your life is the foundation of your witness.

Do not be concerned about what you will say.  The Holy Spirit will give you the boldness and the words you need.  The Apostle Paul talked about this: “My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God’s power.” 1 Corinthians 2:4-5

While sharing the good news of salvation through Jesus is commended, witness also is about living a life that reflects the character of Christ.  Matthew 5:14-16 Jesus refers to believers as “the light of the world” urging them to “let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

Again, in John 15:8 Jesus tells us “This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.”   This living witness challenges the false narratives of this world, exposing its rebellion and calling for surrender to Christ.  By demonstrating love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness and self-control, your life displays the values of God’s Kingdom.

Speak always of God’s transformative work in you. Allow honest transparency, without guile or pride, and with humility always. Do not be timid - show up, stand up, speak up - boldly declare witness!

His Kingdom grows by divine power.  The Holy Spirit emboldens your witness, convicts the hearer and confirms the truth of the Gospel.  You are engaged in spiritual warfare against the kingdom of darkness.  You are called to witness the truth of God’s rule, both in word and deed, individually and as the Church. “We therefore are Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us.  We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.”  2 Corinthians 5:20 Do you declare witness?

What Others Ask

Q. How do I share my faith with friends and family without being pushy?

A. 1 Peter 3:15 says to give a reason for your hope 'with gentleness and respect.' Evangelism that feels pushy usually prioritizes winning an argument over loving a person. Ask questions before making statements. Listen before you speak. And trust the Holy Spirit with the outcome — your job is to witness faithfully, not to convert. Tools like Truth Cards create natural openings without pressure.

Q. What is the Great Commission and what does it require of every Christian?

A. Matthew 28:18-20: 'Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.' The Great Commission is not reserved for missionaries — it is the assignment of every follower of Christ, beginning with the people already in your life.

Q. What does it mean to be a witness for Christ?

A. Acts 1:8 promises: 'You will be my witnesses.' A witness does not argue — they testify to what they have seen and experienced. Being a witness for Christ means telling the story of what He has done in your life, pointing people to Scripture and the gospel, and living in a way that makes them curious about the source of your hope.

Q. How do I start a spiritual conversation with someone who isn't a Christian?

A, Begin with questions, not presentations. Ask about what they believe, what they're searching for, what scares them. Look for open doors — a difficulty they're going through, a question they've asked. A Truth Card or a simple 'I found something recently that meant a lot to me' creates a natural opening. People don't resist genuine interest; they resist being targeted.

Q. What tools help Christians share their faith naturally and effectively?

A. DYNK's Truth Cards are designed specifically for this — small, topical cards that can be shared in moments where a conversation is not possible or not yet appropriate. They carry core gospel truth in a form that doesn't feel like a tract. Paired with a genuine relationship and prayer for the person, they become a bridge to deeper conversation.

Digging Deeper Introduction

Witnessing for Christ is central to the identity and mission of every believer.   Because your testimony is grounded in a personal encounter with truth, your witness is a natural overflow of genuine thanksgiving.  As you are captured by the price Christ paid for your redemption – as His truth grasps your innermost core – you cannot help but desire others to know Him as you do.  You are driven by a sense of urgency for others to experience the freedom of reconciliation with the Father.  “We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.”  2 Corinthians 5:20

While the church – the body of believers – has an important role in declaring witness for Christ, too many Christians abandon their personal responsibility to the church.  Such attitudes and behaviors are contrary to Christ’s command.  Matthew 28:18-20 records Jesus’ directive: “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.   Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Scripture is clear we are to witness to the person and work of Jesus Christ.  This gospel message is summarized in 1 Corinthians 15:1-4: “Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, and by which you are being saved … that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures.”   Acts 4;12 declares the exclusivity of the gospel message: “And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
